Hello cousins. My sweet 91 year old maiden aunt, Maggie Bryant, is near
death in Okmulgee, OK. I've been with her for about three weeks now --
she is ready to go meet her Lord and be reunited with her Combs
ancestors.
Her mother was Amanda Virginia Rebecca COMBS, (married Hiram Nelson
Bryant) the daughter of Solomon Combs and Melvina HERD; grand daughter
of James Combs and Nancy HOBBS; great grand daughter of William Combs
and Anna THOMPSON, etc.
We have made a deal -- if she goes before me, she will find out answers
to all my questions and somehow get a message to me!
I'll be sure to let the list know if Aunt Maggie "sends" me anything on
our elusive Combses. One thing I want to know is where her grandfather,
Solomon Combs died and is buried.

Bob's 2nd wife, the others were Jane BREWER & Joy Icie SEIBER. Edward J.
COMBS died in April 1991 in Winchester (Ky?) per his obit in the April 26,
1991 issue of the Courier -Journal, Louisville, Ky

I believe Lillie Bell COMBS was the d/o Richard C. & Orlena DEATON Combs.
She is listed with her father on the 1920 Breathitt Co., Ky census along with
three grandchildren of Richard's: Woodrow 8, Delbert 6, & Lizzie 2. Delbert
is actually Elbert above. The Social Security Death Index list the same
birth for Delbert and Elbert. Woodrow is listed in the birth index as being
born 1 June 1914 which I believe is in error. He was probably born in
1912/13 since he is listed as older than Delbert on the census & if the dates
were correct there would only be 7 mos. between Woodrow's & Delbert's ages.
Lillie Bell married Floyd NOBLE and had several children. Daughter, Elza
NOBLE Cole's (b 1923) 1995 obit lists her amongst her siblings her brother
Delbert COMBS and sister Lizzie COLE.
