22 May 1650. Lancaster. Capt. Moore FAUNTLEROY [h/of Mary UNDERWOOD] patented 450 acres in Rappahannock River on the N side of Swan bay beginning on the Eastward side of the mouth of Swan Creek for transportation of 9 persons including Mr. Geo. UNDERWOOD, Mary his wife, Anne UNDERWOOD. This patent is relinquished and the rights to make good the patent on the other side being 5350 acres (Patent Bk 2, p. 195).
"In 1660, George LEE, citizen and grosser (i.e., wholesaler) of London appointed his 'brother' George UNDERWOOD to go to Virginia as attorney to collect all debts and dues remaining in the hands of his brother, William LEE, or of Christopher HARRIS." 2 Oct 1700 (Richmond OB, 1669-1701:??) At Richmond County Court, 2 October 1700, administration was granted to Robert JORDAN upon all and singular the Estate of James UNDERWOOD dece'd the said Robert being greatest creditor, he giving security, etc.
This day Robert JORDAN, Administrator of James UNDERWOOD deced. confessed Judgement to Majr. David GWIN for thirteen shillings & four pence in money being Coroner's fees due for taking the Inquest upon the body of the sd deced. This Court have ordered to be paid with Cost of Suit als Exo. (Richmond Orders, 1669-1701, p. 62).
