III. Ann UNDERWOOD, d/o Unknown & Margaret UNKNOWN Underwood (Upton) (Lucas), was born before 1638; married (1) bef 1652, James WILLIAMSON, born before 1634, died 8 Dec 1656 in Lancaster Co, Virginia. Known Issue: Margaret WILLIAMSON; Mary WILLIAMSON; & William WILLIAMSON, born before 1656, died young. (See Also additional Williamson records under both Col. Wm. UNDERWOOD and Archdale Combs I).

Following a deed whereby Elizabeth, widow of Wm. UNDERWOOD, now wife of Archdale Combs, relinquished her dower, on 26 Feb 1672/3, William BALL the Younger of the County of Rappa (marked out) Lancaster in the Collony of Virginia and Margaret his Wife and John ROSIER of the County of Westmoreland in the Collony aforesaid and Mary his Wife wch Margarett and Mary were the daughters of James WILLIAMSON deceased …deeded 350 acres of land to Thomas KIRTON, said land having been granted to "Margaret and Mary WILLIAMSON Coheirs to James WILLIAMSON… being on Rappa River and lying thirty nine miles up the North side of the said River as by Pattent under the seale of this Collony bearing date the first day of May One thousand Six hundred Sixty and five… (Old Rappa VA Records, Book 5:199-203)


i. Margaret WILLIAMSON, b bef 1656, m bef 1672, William BALL, Jr., s/o Col. Wm. & Hannah UNKNOWN Ball of Lancaster Co, VA. (See Archdale Combs I and Old Rappahannock Co VA)

Additional BALL records to be added later , including in reference to Richard BALL, brother of William BALL, Jr., who removed to Baltimore Co, Maryland where he died (in Baltimore Co?) bef 1658, leaving issue, Hannah BALL, by his wife, Mary KINSEY, widow of Thomas HUMPHREYS, and d/o Hugh KINSEY of Old Rappahannock Co VA who d testate in Anne Arundel Co MD. ii. Mary WILLIAMSON, born 1648-1656, married bef 1672, John ROSIER, Jr. (See Archdale Combs I and Old Rappahannock Co VA)

Undated the deed following recorded Jul 1660) (Old Rappahannock Deeds, 1660-1664, p. 99) I Francis GOWER with consent of my Wife Mary GOWER one heiffer black white under the belly and the end of her tail cropt… recorded for use of Mary WILLIAMSON with the female increase and that … untill she cometh to the age of thirteen years. s/Francis GOWER. John ROSIER was the son of Rev. John & Elizabeth HILLIER Rosier (Virginia Families). Rev. John ROSIER succeeded in 1640, the Rev. Wm. COTTON of Hungar's Parish in Accomack Co VA… Both father and son settled in Old Rappahannock, and Westmoreland after they left the "Eastern Shore" of Virginia. Deed in Westmoreland County, August, 1674: John ROSIER, of Westmoreland, Gent., son of Jhn ROSIER, Clerk, to his father in law Anthony BRIDGES, was the widow of Rev. John ROSIER and mother of said Rosier…. (Worth Ray)

Note: Anthony BRIDGES also married Mary SISSON, widow of one Nathaniel POPE, the same who is found a.k.a. BRIDGES in Westmoreland Co VA records, and whose son(?) owned property adjacent to that of John Combs of Richmond Co VA (s/o Archdale and Elizabeth Combs of Old Rappa). The will of John ROSIER, Jr., confirms further his close relationship to the POPE family:

Will of John ROSIER To Nathaniel POPE clerk of Stafford [VA] and practitioner at law all land which I formerly gave my daughter, Elizabeth LEFTWICH, 130 A for which he to pay exx. 3500 lbs. of tobacco; rest to wife of Mary ROZIER, exx. (Westmoreland County Wills, Fothergill, p. 39)
