*Noted by MV: A Rev. James Hutchinson was a circuit rider for the Methodist Chruch during this time period in Middlesex and Mercer Co., NJ. James Combs may have been from New Jersey, however, his youngest daughter said he was from Scotland.

Other information provided by M. Voss not from the Bible:
  • James Combs married Mary Findley, record #1148 Morgan County, Ohio in 1834. An autobiography written by James D.Combs, son of Mary and James, for the Clarke County, Iowa history gives her name as Bailey. MV notes that Mary may have been married to a Bailey or a Findley prior to being married to James Combs. Mary was born November 12, 1805.

  • Lydia Combs married Israel Squires on September 12, 1855 at Morgantown, Monongalia, Va.

  • Sarah Combs 39 married Israel Squires 56 on December 15, 1887. Died December, 1927.
  • John Combs died November 23, 1870, buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Lowell, Ohio. Married Sophronia Starling
  • James D. born in Ohio, died in Osceola, Clarke County; Iowa on January 21,1900, buried in Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola. He married Caroline Smith in Wood County, W. Va in 1867.
