Goals

  • Determine the “genetic profile” for this branch of COMBS.
  • Establish the “lineage genetic profile” of the ancestry for this line.
  • In view of the proximity of Worcester to Warwickshire (and Stratford on Avon), it would be interesting to know if there is a connection between my line and the various Combses mentioned in connection with William Shakespeare in your Combs &c website.
Is there a connection between this COMBS line and the Combses of the USA?
  • Notes: “Resources could still be searched”. Details for #1 to #7 are quite well documented, being based on personally known details backed up by BDM records obtained from Australian BDM registrations. Details for #8 are based on BDM records obtained from Australian registries and details from the LDS website. Few sources have been studied for #9 to #12. The above details are based on information from the LDS Family Search website.
  • The reliability of details for #1 to #8 is very good, despite my inability to locate documentation for the birth of #7 George Henry COMBS (1843-1928). However, the year of his birth can be deduced from his parents (#8 John {Parsons} COMBS and Ann Maria HARTLEY) death certificates and his own death certificate. George Henry COMBS's (1843-1928) marriage certificate is inconclusive because there are anomalies for both his and Rebecca (nee SUTTON) BROOKS's ages. The settlement of South Australia started in 1836 and initially births (baptisms), deaths (burials) and marriages were recorded by the churches. Civil registrations started in July 1842. There is no birth registration for George Henry COMBS (1843-1928) in the civil registry, nor in the church records that I have located on line. However, the birth of his older sister Ruth COMBS (1841-1905) does appear in the on line church records.
