Goals

  • By establishing and comparing "genetic profiles" determine if Jeremiah "Long Jerry" COMBS shares a common ancestry with Mason COMBS Sr. of Stafford Co, Va
  • Determine if Jeremiah also shares a common ancestry with Mason COMBS (1795-1853/4), and Shadrach COMBS Sr, or with the 8 brothers, or with another unplaced Perry Co. Jeremiah COMBS.
  • Note: Lineage through #7 Jeremiah "Long Jerry" thoroughly documented by records. Almost all records available on Combs website and part of various family reports. John, the reputed father of Jeremiah "Long Jerry" COMBS, as presented by Dr. Josiah COMBS, is not supported by any records. All available documents have been researched, and none of these yield any definiable clues to the father of Jeremiah "Long Jerry" Sr. Some oldtimer interviewees believed he was a 9th brother. His children carry many of the names found in the children of John COMBS Sr. and Nancy Harding. If he is a "9th" brother, then maybe the list of the 8 brothers is incorrect. Or, if his father was a different John, then we have a third old John COMBS not yet understood.
