Goals

  • Determine the “genetic profile” for this branch of COMBS.
  • Establish the “lineage genetic profile” of the ancestry for this line.
  • All resources documented thoroughly except for “original” ancester - John - from family records he was a 9 yr old boy who “worked his way across the water on a boat” to the New Hampshire from Scotland. Some it came from material found in a black leather notebook belonging to my great grandfather, Leslie I. Combs. I wish I knew who has this book now! Also documented by Katherine Elaine Combs Bryce, June 1945, for her membership to the Colonial Dames and DAR in 1930.
  • Note: Who did John Combs, at 9 years old, come with to the US? Would a 9 year old come by himself? Where in Scotland did he come from? Why to New Hampshire? I feel confident about the research done on my family line. It helped that John spent most of his life in Richford, Franklin Co, VT - as did his son, Caleb, his grandson, Elias, until my grandfather, Leslie Ira, left for IN.
