Combs, Bradley and Ollie were first cousins once removed and grandparents of the submitter, Nancy Schacht.  Bradley was born 11/9/1895 Perry Co., KY  he died 5/12/1966 Perry Co., KY, buried in the Bradley Combs Cemetery, Acup (Happy), Perry Co., KY.  Ollie was born 10/14/1900 Perry Co., KY  she died 6/10/1970 Perry Co., KY, buried in the Bradley Combs Cemetery, Acup (Happy), Perry Co., KY. She is a daughter of Pearl Combs and Sallie Ann Sumner (Proof: Death Certificate and family).

Enoch Combs and wife Nancy Stacy - Enoch Combs is the son of Mason Combs and Matilda Watts. He was born 30 March 1839 and he died 21 Feb. 1919 in Garrard, Clay Co., Ky. His birth is recorded in the family bible found  at:    http://www.combs-families.org/combs/families/c-mas-watt.htm
Enoch served for one year during the Civil War with the Union Army in Co. L of the 14th Ky. Volunteer Cavalry. He married Nancy Stacy, the daughter of Shadrach "One-Eye" Stacy and Sarah Combs. More information about Enoch and his family is found in the family report for Mason Combs and Matilda Watts.

Combs, Gallio Claudius, age 90, (1875-1970). see below    He built beautiful inlaid tables, chests and other furniture in his shop.  He used over 400 types of woods in his creations, from harvested wood from all over the globe.  See also article on   cgo-phonix       Combs, Claudius Gallio, b 12 Sept. 1875 in Mt. Airy, Surry County, North Carolina, d 15 July 1970 in Phoenix, Arizona. He married Rhoda SALISBURY 28 December 1904 in Jester Township, Greer County, Oklahoma (In 1904, this was Oklahoma Territory). Gallio, at age 24, won the bicycle in a contest during the fall in 1899.  Provided by Sharon Ann Kassa.

Combs, Earle Bryan, (s/o James Jesse & Nancy BRANDENBURG Combs), b 14 May 1899, Owsley Co, KY, was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1970.  The ideal leadoff batter for the great Yankee teams of the 1920s and early 1930s, his successor at the centerfield position was Joe DiMaggio.  Earle died in Richmond, KY in 1976.  Link to Basball Hall of Fame

Combs,Frederick J. & Lovisa Christian, GGrandparents of contributor Carter Combs. Frederick was the s/o of Cullen Combs & Sarah "Sallie" Sargent Combs of Russell Co VA and the g/s of William Combs. Jr and Anna Thompson Combs of Russell Co VA.  Frederick was b. 1847, Russell Co VA and d. 1907, Morgan Co KY.  He was the first of this Russell Co VA Combs family to remain in Kentucky.

Combs, George William, husband of Sarah Huxtable.   Born in Alabama, Genesee County, NY.  He is the son of Jesse E. Combs and Lucy.  According to the family bible George was born July, 1, 1846. He & wife Sarah Huxtable had 2 sons My grand father Franklin Florence and George.  Provided by Combs Researcher Theresa M. Opel Great Grandaughter

Combs, Hamilton Roy, b:Jan.21,1837, Auglaize Co., OH; d:May 7, 1878, Clare Co., MI. Served 4 yrs. in the Civil War in Co. C of the 31st O.V.I. at Perrysville, Stones River, Corinth, Tullahoma, Resaca, Chickamauga, Lookout Mtn., Pine Mtn., and was wounded at Kenesaw Mtn. June 27, 1864. Combs, James Buchanan,  b: Dec.20th 1856 d: Dec. 11th 1915 eldest son of Andrew Jackson Combs and Anna Eliza (nee White) Combs.  James was the Father of 11 children.  Hulda, Ezra, Edgar, Edgar, Callie, Gertrude, Jessie, Ruby, Andrew, Anna, Imogene and Carrie.  Edgar was my Father!James married Ella Hatfield Aug. 4th 1895 in Schuyler County,MO.  Ella was the Mother of all the children except Hulda whose mother died (her name unknown)!James had 2 younger brothers Charles E. and George Orrie Combs.Their father Andrew Jackson Combs was killed in the Cival War in March 1865 at Tullahoma,TN. and is burried in Stone,s River Cival War Cemetery in Murfreesboro,TN.   Andrew was the son of Stephen and Cynthia Combs who came to Mo. from Kentucky.  Photo provided by Combs researcher Earl S. Combs, John Walter (great grandfather of Combs editor and contributor Steven GILLEY), great grandson of Zedekiah (Zadock) COMBS of Grayson County. Combs, Joseph L. (Private) was the son of William Garrett Combs and Susan BALDWIN.  He was born in 1847 in Auglaize County, OH.  Military history shows that he was mustered in on September 10, 1861, age 16 (not), and was mustered out September 18, 1864, at East Point, G., on expiration of term of service.  He was a member of the Fifty-Fourth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company I. Combs, Stephen Rufus, son of William Combs and Elizabeth EllisCombs. Born 23 February 1818 in Stoney Point, Iredell County, North Carolina. Married Melinda Caudill (born 1826 in Iredell County, NC) on 15 August 1844 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. Shown with their youngest child, Stephen Pinkney Combs, born 5 May 1867. W.P. Cody, born 9 April 1855 and died 1 Sept. 1921, was the son of Jehu Cody and Matilda Smith. His second wife Elizabeth Combs, born 15 Jan. 1865, was the daughter of Enoch Combs and Nancy Stacy.
