Notes: OnePollyMcNELLY [sic] m a John Combs on 5 Feb 1820 in Madison Co, AL. On 3 Aug 1841, also in Madison Co, AL, a William A. Combs m Martha BARNETT. The 1850 Madison Co TN Census shows what is apparently a widowed Martha Combs, aged 27, with children, in the household of Hugh & Nancy McNEELY Barnett (her parents?). Whether these Combs came to Madison Co, AL with the McNEELYS from Madison Co, KY remains unknown. One Combs marriage (to HEATHERLY) has been found in Madison Co KY, but No Combs by surname have been found in that county as yet.

Note, however, that John MILLION, brother of Sarah Ann MILLION Combs was a resident of Madison Co, KY, and that his niece, Elizabeth MILLION, m in 1823, possibly in Stafford Co, VA, a John M. Combs, and see a John M. Combs listed on the 1840 Madison Co, AL census index. Also note that descendants of the John & Sarah MABRY Combs family of Grainger & Jefferson Co, TN were early in Madison Co, AL (where Carlton Combs was born), and also that numerous Warren Co, TN residents removed to Madison Co, AL in the 1810s-1830s, a number later moving on to Madison Co, AR- named after their home county. It is not yet known if any of the Warren Co, TN Combs (earlier from Hawkins Co TN) removed to Madison Co, AL, only that there were early Combs in that county.
