Wembworthy, a parish in the Northern Division, hundred of North Tawton with Winkley, 2-1/4 miles southeast of Hollacombe, 3-1/2 miles south southwest of Chulmleigh, about eight miles northwest of Spreyton (Southern Division, Hundred of Wonford), and 7-1/2 miles southheast of Roborough (Northern Division, Hundred of Fremington)... The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Barnstaple, and diocese of Exeter... and in the patronage of the Rev. R. T. JOHNSON. The church is dedicated to St. Michael.
