Note: "w" means widow. These were 40 and 60 acre lots.

24 Mar 1838 (Early Records of Georgia, Wilkes Co, Grace Gillam Davidson, Vol. 2, JW Burke Co., Macon, Georgia, 1932, p. 210) Est. of Phillip COMBS, Sr., decd. Pamelia, Jane and Mary Ann and Pamelia COMBS, guardian of Franklin COMBS, Putnam Co., GA, power of attorney to William COMBS of this state to receive from Philip COMBS, administrator of Philip Combs, Sr., deceased, of Wilkes Co., GA, all we are due as legatees, 24 Mar., 1838.

02 Apr 1838 (Early Records of Georgia, Wilkes Co, Grace Gillam Davidson, Vol. 2, JW Burke Co, Macon GA, 1932, p. 210) Est. of Phillip COMBS, Sr., decd. Pamelia COMBS of Putnam Co., GA, guardian of Francis [sic] COMBS, orphan in right of his father James COMBS, deceased, power of attorney to William COMBS for the same purpose of said orphan Francis, son of James Combs, deceased, 2 April, 1838.

Combs Notes: One James Combs, the h/o Mildred "Millie," signed his will in 1814, proved 1818; thus his son, Francis Combs, was b bef 1815, and at least 23 years of age by the time of the above record. Unless his son, Francis, was disabled in some way, it does not seem likely that the above Francis was the same. Was Pamelia the widow of his son, James? Who was the William Combs given power of attorney for the orphans of James Combs? Also note that Pamelia may have submitted the second power of attorney due to the name Franklin having been in error on the first power of attorney. Pamelia a.k.a. Permelia Combs is apparently the same who died testate c1843 as follows:

12 Jun 1843 (Abstracts of Wills from Georgia extracted by Jeannette Holland Austin, p. 87)
Will of Pemelia Combs. Daus: Jane Combs, Mary Ann Combs. Sons: William P. Combs. Grdau: Sarah J. Combs. Exrs: William P. Combs of Troup Co GA, Davis OWENS of Coweta Co. Wits: Henry KELLER, John DAUGHTERTY, William B. BROWN.

Combs Note: Pamelia Combs may not have been residing in Putnam at the time of her death. 1840 Putnam census not checked yet. No Combs found on 1850 Putnam Co, GA census.
