Notes: Robert Combs aka Andrew Robert Combs previously found in Johnson Co IA 1854 & 1856 IA State Census and 1850 in Delaware Co, IN where he married Lucy W. CASE 30 Oct 1839 (Robert A. Combs & Lucy CASE) and where he was living only a few houses away from an old Job Combs (age 80, b. c1770 in VA). A Samuel Combs (age 27) is still with Robert in the 1870 Fremont Co, IA census; however, there is also a Samuel P. Combs in the 1870 census in Worth Co, MO., whose death notice states he was born in Delaware Co. in 1841 and migrated with his family to Iowa. (Worth Co, MO Death Notice for Samuel P. Combs: COMBS, Samuel P. -- died 3 Dec 1896 at his home, 1 mile north-east of Allendale, MO. He was born in Delaware Co., Ind., 12 Nov 1840. He moved with his father to Johnson Co., Iowa in 1852 & to Ringgold Co., Iowa in 1859. He served in the civil war with the 18th & 29th Iowa Inf. In 1861 for 3 months. He married Sarah M. Armstrong, 12 Nov 1863. She survives him with a large family of children.) Could Samuel just have been back in Iowa to visit his family when he was enumerated with father Robert or could this be another Samuel? Our Civil War database shows these two entries for Samuel P. Combs: (1) Combs, Samuel P., 17th Reg’t, IA Inf Co A Pvt/", and (2) Combs, Samuel P., 29th Reg’t, IA Inf Co G Pvt/".
