Pratt County was created on 26 Feb 1867 from Marion Co; not fully organized. Lost land to Barbour Co (now Barber) on 20 Mar 1873. Gained part of Stafford Co on 5 Mar 1875; Pratt Co detached from Reno Co, attached to Pawnee Co "for judicial purposes." Lost to Stafford Co on 25 Apr 1879 when Kansas Supreme Court ruled act of 5 March 1875 unconstitutional. Fully organized on 29 Jul 1879.
