1 May 1883 Francis Marion COMBS married Eliza Ward OLDHAM (Submitted by Combs Researcher Debbie Combs)
1887 (Jessamine Co., KY) "JEREMIAH Combs was born June 24, 1821, and is the third son of Edward and Sophia (HICKS) Combs, who were natives of Fayette County, Ky. His father died in 1825, but had moved to Jessamine County previous to his death. Jeremiah grew to manhood on the farm, receiving a limited schooling. His parents were very poor, and when he married, in January 1842, he moved his household truck on a "slide". His wife's maiden name was Martha ZIKE, born in Jessamine County, a daughter of Joseph ZIKE. Eight children blessed this union: William E., Belle, Hester, Emma, John B., Frances M., Granville and Sallie. His wife died in 1874, and he married for his second wife Mrs. Affia D. (SNEED) Munday, daughter of Capt. Thos. SNEED and widow of James H. MUNDAY, of Mercer County, Ky., where she was born. By her first husband she had three children, two living: George P. and Thomas H. On the 24th of May, 1886, the third child, Jesse C., was drowned near Ford, Ky., in attempting to save a boy from drowning, and both lives were lost in the attempt. He was an upright young man, and his untimely death was sincerely mourned by all who were associated with him. Mr. Combs owns 310 acres of land in Lee Precinct. The family are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South." (Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887)
