Hampshire County was established in 1662 from Middlesex Co., MA
Towns of Hampshire County include:
1730 birth of Samuel COOMES. He enlisted in 1777, as a private in Capt. Ephraim Chapin's company, Col. Ruggles Woodbridge's Massachusetts regiment. He after 1782 in Hampshire Co., MA
Note: Samuel had a son Samuel who m. Miriam Hall in 1761. Samuel and Miriam Hall had a son, Walter COOMES (1766-1842) who m. in 1790 Flavia Colton. Ref: The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Volume 80 pages 199-200: Mrs. Agnes Eliza Stock Spooner. DAR ID Number: 79555
