BM Notes: According to this source, James ABRAHAM was b. in "North Hamptonshire," England, on or abt Feb 25, 1696, and d Sept. 13, 1765, aged 69 years, 6 monts and 18 days. His wife Janet, b. about January, 1704, d. April 3, 1747, aged 43 years and 3 months. They and their Children Charles and Elizabeth are buried in
Topanemus Burying Ground, Marlboro Tp., Monmouth Co. (SHGM I:286). James ABRAHAM was in New Jersey as early as Jan. 24, 1727/8, when the will of Charrles JOLLEY (JOLLY) of Perth Amboy names James ABRAHAM as one the executors of his will. "In the jurat of the executors he is called James Abraham JOLEY, but this is doubtless an error of the clerk. (NJA 23:266). On Dec. 10, 1728, John JOLLY and Jean JOLLY of Amboy Tp. deeded some property to James ABRAHAM, located near the line between Middlesex and Monmouth Counties (EJD D3:131). The ABRAHAM's had a child bapt. at Freehold in 1735 by the Pastor of Christ Church, Shrewsbury. (SHGM I:159). On March 30, 1741, James ABRAHAM, of Middlesex Co., yeoman, bought of John HEPBURN for £100. a tract on the east side of Matcheponix River in Middlesex Co. In 1743 he bought another tract in the same area, and in this deed he is described as of the South Ward of Pert Amboy. The same place of residence is used in a deed by his executors in 1769. (NJD D3:133,146; G3:450), so that he doubtless lived on the Middlesex Co. Estates, either as witness, creditor or bondsman. (NJA 30:197,280; 33:367)."
