Clermont County was established in 1800 from Hamilton. In 1818, Brown was est. from Clermont and Adams.

1804 According to "A Historical Narrative of the Ely, Revell and Stacye Families" by Reuben Pownall Ely, Copyright, 1910, by Fleming H. REVELL Company , George ELY (s/o George ELY of Hunterdon Co, NJ & Phoebe Combs, d/o John Combs of Upper Freehold, Monmouth Co, NJ), born September, 1781, married Mary MOUNT, and in 1804 removed to Clermont County, Ohio, and was the founder of the city of Batavia."
