Jan 1821 "Isaac S. W. COOK and James W. Combs were admitted to practice law in Hardin Co., TN at the January term 1821."

(Extracted by Combs Researcher Susan Combs Hefner from "Tennessee Cousins: A History of Tennessee People" by Worth S. Ray, 1950, p. 709)

Notes: Although admitted to practice in this county, it is unlikely that James W. Combs ever resided in Hardin. He was likely the James W. Combs of Giles Co, TN.

18 Jul 1826 (Washington Co AR Book A:FOB [front of book]) dtd 18 Jul 1826. A. W. SWEENEY to Eizabeth SWEENEY, Hardin Co, TN. Harriet, a negro girl, $200. Other names: James CAMPBELL, WILSON & Bros, Martha Jane LATTA, John PIERCE, John RUTHERFORD, Jonathan HAINES, Levi Combs, H. H. HILL, Margaret A. LATTA, John LATTA. Executed Hardin Co, TN; recorded Washington Co, AR. (Abstr of Deeds, Deed Book A, 1830-1838, Washington Co, AR, Fayetteville, AR, Lois N. Miller, 1983)

Notes: It is not known if Levi Combs was in Hardin County, Tennessee at this time. He was married in Wilkes Co, North Carolina in 1817 to Sarah ARRINGTON, and they resided some time afterward in TN, but were definitely in Washington Co, Arkansas prior to 1840.
