Comal County, Texas was established in 1846 from Bexar, Gonzales, and Travis Counties. The county seat is New Braunfels.

Estill D. COMBS died. He was single.

Note: (provided by W. Tipton) Estill D. Combs was the son of CHARLES WESLEY COMBS, b. Breathitt Co. Ky. and MARY ANN BOWMAN, b. Owsley Co. Ky., Charles was the son of BEN TARLETON COMBS and MARY WILLIAM of Ky. Mary Ann Bowman was the dau. of Elihu Bowman & Mary Woodward of Owsley Co. Ky. and had a twin sister Martha Ann Bowman who married James Breckenridge COMBS of Owsley Co. Ky. Estill COMBS moved to the San Antonio area in the 1930's and my uncle and his cousin Rudell Cox was working with Estill in San Antonio when Rudell was in an auto accident which killed him and another woman.   The following is a copy of the obit....

RUDELL COX, KILLED IN TEXAS
    James Adams Rudell COX 27, son of Andy F. and Carrie Hogan COX, of Pryse was killed in an automobile collision in San Antonio Texas, Sunday night February 28. The body was brought home for burial in the Mt. Paran Church yard. The funeral was conducted from the Mt. Paran church by the Rev. Frederick J. Drew, priest in charge of the St. Thomas Episcopal
church at noon Friday March 5. Details of the accident are meager, the collision was in San Antonio.
    Mrs. Petra Moreno VILLANUEVA 65 was killed, Misses Alene DORTON 16, and Josephine GRAHAM 17 were in the car with Mr. Cox and were injured. Rudell had been in Texas about a month and was working with  Estill D. COMBS a building contractor.
    Survivors other than his parents are a small  daughter Maudie Ruth Cox, Campton, two brothers Londis and Clyde Cox, Pryse; Four sisters, Mrs. Carlie NEAL, Irvine and Misses Beatrice; Lillian and Gertrude, at home.
