Ellis County, Texas, was established in 1849 from Navarro County, Texas. Johnson County was formed from Ellis County in 1854. The county seat is Waxahachie.

Notes: (provided by Gretta Combs Reich) "Susie" was the daughter of Benjamin Nelson COMBS and Adaline HUTSON. She was born in Georgia, probably Paulding Co., where she appears in the 1860 Census. "Tillman" was born in Dallas, Paulding Co., Georgia and died in Hopkins County, Texas.
