APPENDIX I.

ARMS OF ARCHDALE, OF CASTLE ARCHDALE (see frontispiece).

1st Quarter. Azure, a chevron ermine between 3 talbots passant or, Archdale.

2nd Quarter. Quarterly, 1 and 4, Azure, 3 fleurs-de-lis or, Montgomery : 2 and 3, Gules, 3 gem-rings gold, Eglinton ; all within a bordure or charged with a tressure flory gules, in the centre point an inescutcheon argent charged with a tilting spear and sword saltire-wise points upward ppr.

3rd Quarter. Gules, a lyon rampant argent, within a bordure of the last charged with 8 roses of the first, Dunbar.

4th Quarter. Sable, 3 lyons passant guardant per pale or and argent, Mervyn.

Crest. Out of a ducal coronet or, an heraldic tyger's head ppr.

Motto. Data fata secutus.

AYLOFFE. Sable, a lyon rampant between 3 crosses patée or.

BARRINGTON (of Queen's Co.) Argent, 3 bars gules, a label of 3 points azure for difference.

CLARKE (Col. William Archdall'e wife). Or, 2 bars azure. in chief 3 escallops gules.

DAMER Barry nebuly of six, argent and gules, a bend engrailed azure.

DAWSON (of Queen's Co.). Azure, a chevron ermine between 9 arrows points downwards or, barbed and fledged ppr ; on a chief argent 3 martlets sable, and on a canton gules a mullet or.

DOYNE. Gules, a fesse dancettée between 3 escallops argent.

GORE (of Manor Gore). Gules, a fesse argent between 3 cross-crosslets fitchée or.

HONINGS. Quarterly, vert and gulee, a lyon rampant argent.

HUMPHRYS. Gules, a lyon rampant, and above the bead a ducal coronet or, on a canton of the last a trefoil vert.

MAUDE. Azure. a lyon rampant argent.

MERVYN (second coat, borne by some of the Irish branch). Or, a chevron sable.

PORTER. Sable, 3 bells argent. a canton of the last charged with a portcullis ppr.

PRICE (of Saintfield). Azure, 3 lyon's heads erased within a bordure engrailed or.

ROCHFORT. Azure, a lyon rampant argent.

SEXTON (of Lavenham). Argent, 3 wings erect gules.

TOUCHET (Lord Audley). Quarterly, 1 and 4, Ermine, a chevron gules, Touchet ; Z and S, Gules, a frette or, Audley.
