Jerry Combs was the son of Nicholas Combs.

Lynda Combs Gibson Notes: My parents didn't know the name of Nicholas Combs' wife, nor his ancestry. As has been subsequently documented: Nicholas Combs, was born 12 Oct 1839, Perry Co., KY; died 28 Aug 1914, Lee Co., Ky; married 10 Feb 1860, Perry Co., KY; Eliza WILLIAMS, born 1842-3, KY. Nicholas was the son of Jeremiah L."Long" Combs, Sr . (ca 1782 - 1843) and Sarah WHITELEY.
