Dartford, a market town and parish, in the hundred of Axton, Dartford, and Wilmington, lathe of Sutton at Hone, county of Kent, 15 miles SE of London, and 22 NW of Maidstone, on the great road from London to Canterbury and Dover in the archdeaconry and diocese of Rochester
27 Jun 1577 Will of John BRIDGES of Chelmsford, Essex, undated, but proved in 1577, mentions his house in Dartford, Kent "with a wood wharf belonging which I purchased of Edward DYTCHEFIELDE, my son-in-law," and later refers to grandson, John DITCHFIELD. Undated, proved 25 Jun 1577.
Notes: See the later Edward DITCHFIELD who had m by 1633/4, Mary MANNING, d/o Randall & Mary COMBS Manning, the latter, d/o John & Margaret ARCHDALE Combs. No Combs records have been located in Dartford as yet.
