St Pancras Soper Lane,

St Pancras Soper Lane (1.24 mi. north of city centre) was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666 and not rebuilt. It was united to St Mary le Bow in 1670. Parish records are in the Guildhall Library: baptisms 1538-1697/8 & 1813-89, marriages 1538-1674 & 1818-36, burials 1538-1697 & 1813-1849. For baptisms 1697/8-1812 & post-1889, marriages 1675-1812 & post-1836 , banns 1754-1937, burials 1697/8-1812, see St Mary le Bow registers which have been retained by the incumbent. A partial index to baptisms and marriages 1538-1875 on IGI. No Combs are found in the index until the late 18090s (not yet extracted).

According to Samuel Lewis' Topography of England, 1831, St. Pancras, Soper Lane, includes the chapelry of Somers-town (Somerstown?), is in the Holborn division of the Hundred of Ossulstone, Middlesex, "two miles northwest of St. Paul's Cathedral in London... later united with the parishes of Allhallows, Honey Lane, and St. Mary Le Bow..."

Katherine ARCHDALE, d/o Barnard and Anne FERN Archdale, of Cuddesdon, Oxfordshire, married bef 1597, Edward BROWN (sic) of London. Not known if Richard was related to Edward.
