25 Jun 1670 (St. Mary's Co MD) Will of Wm TETTERSHALL of Brittain's Bay, St. Mary's Co.; names Thomas ???; wife, Ann TATTERSHALL; eldest son Lawrence TATTERSHALL (under age), "Tattershall's Gift" belonging to Thomas COLE and in Charles Co MD, land between Dr. Luke BARBIER [sic] & John GREENWELL; daughter, Mary TATTERSHALL (under age) "St. John's on Brittain's Bay," (where I now live); brother John TATTERSHALL of Odd Stoakes in Wiltshire; St. Ignatius Chappell in St. Mary's; Roman Catholic Church; Mrs. Mary ANDREWS (rel. not staed); Execs: brother in law John JARBO & friend Mr. WALTER. s/Will. Note: In Maryland Calendar of Wills Vol I, Jane Baldwin, the signatures of witnesses are instead: Abraham COOMBE & John JARBOE. Bretton Bay is in Leonardtown, county seat of St. Mary's. The above Abraham Combs was earlier in Old Rappahannock Co VA where he and Archdale Combs of that county were closely associated. Abraham later removed to St. Mary's Co MD, and his relationship, if any, to Archdale COMBS, remains unknown. Odd Stokes has not yet been located in Wilts or anywhere else in England.
