3 Sep 1908 Perry Enterprise. Obituary for Robert O'Brien.

Death of Robert O'Brien the Angel of Death summoned the spirit of “Uncle Robt.” O'Brien to the heavenly house on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. He had only been sick a few days and his death came as peaceful as a child falling to sleep. The deceased was born in Kentucky on Nov. 22, 1818, coming to Ralls Co early in life and locating on the Joseph Wright farm near Perry. afterwards moving to the St. Paul's neighborhood, where he and his wife continued to live until a few months ago when they moved to Perry. Funeral services took place at the St. Paul church on Monday morning at 10 o'clock after which the burial took place in the church yard. Rev. Fa. Donavan conducted the service. He died in the Catholic faith. He was a good citizen, respected and honored by everyone. He and his good wife had traveled hand in hand through life for 62 years. To them was born five children, all of whom are living, the oldest being 61 years old. This is something that is remarkable. The children are: Mrs. Ann S Lilly, of New London, W. C. O'Brien, Mrs. Mathew Elliott, Mrs. Anderson Leake, Alfred A O'Brien of Perry and vicinity. To his bereaved widow and children the ENTERPRISE extends sympathy.

Two individual broken markers lying flat on the ground; [Composite Photo submitted by J. J. Hoskins].

Augustine O'Brien, born Jan. 20, 1786, Maryland; died Oct. 19, 1865 at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 22 days, Ralls Co, MO

Elizabeth “Coomes/Combs” O'Brien, born March 30, 1792 in Prince Georges Co, MD, died July 5, 1864, Ralls Co, MO

Notes: Per JJ Hoskins, the broken stones were transcribed prior to their partially unreadable state. Augustine's name is readable on his stone as are some of the dates and his age at death. The stone next to him has always been attributed to being that of Elizabeth, and it clearly states St. George's Co. However, her 1850 and 1860 census records state she was born in Ky. and her husband was born in MD.
