Fayette County was established in 1831 from Kanawha, Greenbrier and Logan Cos. In 1850, Raleigh Co, VA (WV) was est. from Fayette. In 1861, Fayette became part of the newly-formed state of West Virginia when it seceded from Virginia during the Confederate War. No Combs have been located on either the 1840 or 1850 Fayette Co, VA census enumerations.
