Newell E Combs applied for a Civil War Pension in 1889 from Nebraska and his widow Sarah J Combs applied in 1900. He is likely the same as the Joel E Combs, CW veteran found in the 1890 Saline Co, NE Veterans census.Official CW records show one Newell E Combs [the pensioner] was a private in the 22nd Wisconsin Infantry, Co. G. No Newell Combs has been found in the 1860 Wisconsin census. The only Newel Combs is age 29 found in Trumbull Co, OH, with possible wife Dianah. The above Frank and Jennie may be from a previous marriage.
