APPENDIX B. FUNERAL CERTIFICATE OF MARTIN ARCHDALE
(from College of Arms, London)

3 Jan. 1597.

MARTIN ARCHDALE, Cittizen of London. Gent. Maryed Barbara daughtr of Thomas Sexton of London and had by her yssue 5 Sonns & 2 Daughtrs vizt Jhon Archdale sonne and heyr of the age of 19 years, Martin Archdale 2d sonne of the age of 10 years, Robert Archdale 3d sonne of the age of 8 years. Samuell Archdale 4th sonne of the age of 6 years, Danyell Archdale 5th sonne of the age of 4 years. Alice Archdale fyrst daughtr of the age of 16 years and Sara Archdale yonger daughtr of the age of 2 years. 

The sayd Martyn Archdale gent deceased at his house neer Tower Street the 25th day of December 1597 and was worshipfully buryed in the parish church of St Margaret Pattens (at ye upper end of the Quier on the right hand under his hatchment) the 3d day of January following. The Preacher was Mr. ffolson.The penon borne by Mr. Jho Archdale being a brothers sonne to the defuncte. The healme and Crest by Wm Smyth, Rougedragon Officer of Armes. The Coat by Wm Segar Norroy King of Armes who directed the sayde funerall in the behalfe of Wm Camden Clarencieulx King of Armes of the Province. And in wittnes that this Certifficat is true we whose names are subscribed have sett to or hands the day and year above specified.
