He died 2 Mar 1844, and his widow applied 31 Mar 1846, Vermillion Co IN, aged 83, naming children (not necessarily all): Anne 2nd dau b 8 Jun 1787 & m Nicholas CARTER; Ruth, wife of Geo. PHENICE, Nancy, Eve, John, William, Jeremiah, Abraham, George & Isaac.

Notes: According to the research of Combs Researcher Danny Knight, Charity HAMMOCK, d/o Robert & Mary Combs Hammock, was the wife of Rev Soldier Abraham HAMMONS, later removed to Vermillion Co IN. It is not known if they were kin to later Combs of Vermillion County (See also Combs-Hammond Families) Abraham HAMMON has not yet been located on the 1830 Census index, but a Nicholas CARTER is listed on p. 237, and a Thomas Combs on page 238 of the Vermillion Co IN census (Census Index CD; however, microfilm copy of index shows p. 474 for Thomas Combs (Combs Researcher Gloria B. Carter) Not known what page Nicholas CARTER on this later source.

Benjamin married first to Mary Ann LAZWELL who died in May 1856. Benjamin PEARMAN remarried on 20 July 1856 to Adah Combs (certified copy of marriage record in pension file).
Apparent brother-in-law was Francis C. Combs aka Frank Combs (b. c1830), age 52 per 22 Nov. 1882 deposition. Resided Toronto, Vermillion Co., IN but lived in Park County until a few year previous.
Two daughters are identified in the pension application:
Mollie M PEARMAN born 18 Oct. 1866, deaf and blind at age 24, res. Hillsdale, Vermillion Co, IN
Rosa Leona PEARMAN b. about 30 Nov. 1877 (youngest child and claimant)
Adah Combs PEARMAN, widow, d. 31 dec. 1889 per Francis C. Combs.
SE Note: Is this Adah Combs the same as Adah, age 14, in the 1850 Vermillion Co., IN household (see above) of Thomas Combs? Francis Combs (two households before Thomas) is the right age to be the Francis C. Combs, brother-in-law of Benjamin PEARMAN. If so, could he also be the Francis, age 20, in the Appanoose Co, IA census along with Obediah, and Levi? Apparently Francis returned with Obediah and Levi to Vermillion Co, IN. by 1860.
