24 Feb 1804 (KY Land Grants/Surveys Book: 7, Page: 395) Grantee: Biram Combs, 96 Acres, Survey Dated 2-24-1804, Wayne Co., KY, No Watercourse Listed (Kentucky Land Grants, Jillson, p. 291)
Notes: The above Byram Combs is believed to have been the same who was earlier a Tory of Surry Co., NC and later in that part of Cumberland which becameWayne Co., KY. See also 1817 Clay Co., KY Tax Lists (not found as yet on any 1810 census). In his Combes Genealogy, Josiah H. Combs speculates that the Robert COMES [sic] who entered land on Otter Creek of Wayne Co., KY in 1824 (see below) may have been a son of Biram; however, since no Combs are found in Wayne County's census in either 1820 or 1830, there is no evidence of a relationship thus far. The closest to a "clue" is the Samuel AYRES whose Otter Creek land was entered on 2-18-1824, and Thomas JOHNSTON on 2-24-1824 (See Elihu AYRES and RW Tory William Combs of Wilkes Co., NC, and Thomas JOHNSON of Floyd Co., KY, an appraiser of estate of John Combs, d 1820. Needed: A check of the Wayne Co., KY Deed Index to try and determine what happened to this land.
