"A List of Taxables Taken by John Smoot in the Lower Hundred of WM. & Mary Parish June 20th 1758"
This Charles County tax list was prepared and annotated by Combs &c. researchers from transcriptions generously provided by Charles County Researcher John B. Lomax. All annotations in [brackets] are John's. All other annotations are by Combs &c. Researchers.

John adds: "The source for the 1758 Charles County Tax Lists is microfilms SR 4543-8, -9, -10, -11, -12 and -13, Maryland State Archives. The lists were read in sequence, top to bottom, left column to right. Records were shown separated by hand-drawn lines with as many as five names per record plus notes, number of slaves and the number of Taxables at the bottom of each record. A Record Number was added (sequential within each district) to this transcription for each record and another number was added showing the Name Order within the record. The notes, slaves and number of taxables, while listed at the bottom of each record, are listed in this transcription with the first person named in the record; presumably, they apply to the assemblage of persons named in the record."

Ed. Note: Annotation of this list is still underway (see below).
