Notes: Couple not found in 1860 census records. Also, Whitney Coombs adds: the birth state for Elihu is given as Ia=IOWA; however, “Ia” was very frequently used to abbreviate Indiana in the 1850 census records. IA has only recently become the accepted abbreviation for Iowa. Since the path of migration for this family (based of birth locations) appears to have been from KY to MO, it is likely that their path was down the Ohio River, along the shores of Indiana and on into Missouri. Elihu & Polly have marks through column ten: “Married within the year.” Also see an Elihu Combs and Polly (married within the year) in 1850 Census of Pulaski Co, MO.
