Hamilton County was established in 1819 from Rhea County. In 1835 the county gained from non-county (Indian?) lands. Descendant counties include James, established in 1870, but merged back into Hamilton in 1920.

27 Feb 1946 Farmer, Mrs. Martha who resided at the Old Ladies Home, passed away at the Bork Memorial Hospital at an early hour Wednesday morning. She is survived by these nephews, A. E. Combs of Chattanooga, James and Lige Combs both of Ooltewah, Tenn; one niece, Mrs Nettie Fairbanks of Ooltewah, Tenn. Funeral services will be held at the Wann-Chapman Funeral Home this afternoon at 1 o'clock, with Rev. W.C Martin Officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

RC Note: Martha Farmer, d/o Osburn & Delphia STANDFIELD Combs. Death Certificate states Martha Farmer is the daughter of Osburn and Delphia Combs of McMinn County Tenneesee. I know they were alot of questions as to which Martha Combs married JJ Farmer, now we know it was the daughter of Osburn Combs. Her death certificate list her birthday as 1 Oct 1851 and she died 27 Feb 1946. She was 94 years of age when she died. She was in a Old ladies Home when she died in Hamilton County Tenn. She was there in the home for 8 years. Also were it list her parents it shows both Osburn and Delphia were born in NC. It also gives Delphias middle name which is Ann. On Delphia's birthplace it had the county but no longer legiable to were she was born in NC but it did start with a S appearing to end with a Y so could it be Surry county NC? Her obit listed no children either just neices and nephews. Did she have no children? JJ FARMER acording to her death certificate is already deceased.
