Holbeton, a parish in the Southern Division, Hundred of Ermington, 3-1/4 miles west southwest of Modbury, and about 6 miles northwest of Loddiswell; includes the hamlets of Mothecombe, Creacombe, and Ford, and extends to Bigbury Bay.
1332 Halbeton [sic] Devonshire Lay Subsidy Roll William de COMBE, 2s.
Note: There is also a Halberton parish, which is in the Eastern Division, Hundred of Halberton, 3-1/2 miles east of Tiverton, but based on the location of this record, Halbeton is probably more likely (but not researched).
