Note: Lucy PAYNE (b c1791/2), d/o of Helen Combs and Benjamin PAYNE. Helen was the d/o of John Combs and Sarah LUTTRELL of Fauquier Co, VA. This family had removed to Marion County prior to 1840. Robert W Barbee was living next door and there is a younger Sampson Barbe (age 36) in Indianapolis Centre Twp. Fauquier Co. chancery court document the children (and some spouses) of Helen Combs and Benjamin Payne. Lucy was always mentioned first or second in the list of Helen's children; therefore, she may have been the eldest or next to eldest child. Sampson Barbee also found in 1840 Marion Co., IN census.
