St. Antholin Budge Row was destroyed in 1666, rebuilt by Wren, sold 1874, demolished 1875, and the parish united in 1873 with St Mary Aldermary.* St. Antholin's extant records are: baptisms 1538-1872, marriages 1538-1873, banns 1754-1952, burials 1538-1853. A partial index to baptisms and marriages 1538-72 is in the IGI.

* As a result of both the Great Fire of 1666 and London's diminishing residential population, the parishes of St. Antholin Budge Row, St. John the Baptist Walbrook and St. Thomas the Apostle were all ultimately united with St. Mary Aldermary (not to be confused with St. Mary the Virgin Aldermanbury). The parish records for all four are in the Guildhall Library. (GenDoc's Victorian Churches (Church of England a.k.a. Anglican)

Except where otherwise noted, all St. Antholin parish register extracts are IGI entries from the source: "The parish registers of St. Antholin, Budge Row, London, containing the marriages, baptisms and burials, from 1538 to 1754; and of St. John Baptist on Wallbrook, London, containing the baptisms and burials from 1682 to 1754, partly edited by Jodeph Lemuel Chester and completed under the direction of Geo. J. Armytage, Chester, Joseph Lemuel , 1821-1882 (Main Author); Photocopy of original. Includes index. Also on microfilm. Salt Lake City: Filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah, 1971. on 1 microfilm reel; 35 mm. FHL BRITISH Film: #0845229 Item 2 (FamilySearch.Org)

The parish of St. Antholin Budge Row was home to the Archdale, Clifton and Combe Families: Richard CLIFTON, Skinner (to the King?), and his wife, Mary MORTON of Shropshire (per Archdale Memoirs, not yet confirmed) Visitation), were residing in this parish by 1540. Thomas ARCHDALE, who married their daughter, Mary, was the son of John ARCHDALE of Staffordshire, and resided in this parish at least as early as 1568. John COMBE, who later married Margaret, daughter of Thomas and Mary CLIFTON Archdale, may have resided here as early as 1576, and possibly even been born in the parish. Both Thomas ARCHDALE and John COMBE were freedmen of the City of London due to their membership in the powerful Drapers Guild, and both also presumably relatively well-to-do. The records of this parish indicate that the ARCHDALE presence was probably the result of the marriage of Thomas ARCHDALE to Mary CLIFTON (although the COMBE family may have been here first).

John COMBE, baptised 16 Aug 1602, St. Mary the Virgin Aldermanbury, eldest son of John and Margaret ARCHDALE Combe, and h/o Elizabeth LOVETT whom he married 08 Jul 1630, Soulbury, Buckinghamshire.
