City Centre, London

Note: The primary sources for information given in regard to parish records are GenDoc's Victorian City of London Churches (Church of England a.k.a. Anglican) and FamilySearch.Org
St Benet Paul's Wharf (a.k.a. St Benet's Welsh Church), Queen Street (city centre) was destroyed by the Great Fire of 1666, and rebuilt. St Peter Paul's Wharf (city centre) was united to St Benet Paul's Wharf in 1670, and in 1879, both were united to St Nicholas Cole Abbey. Since that time, St Benet has been used by a Welsh congregation. Its Anglican parish records are in the Guildhall Library: Anglican (Church of England) baptisms, 1619-1877 and Welsh congregation baptisms, 1880-1931; Anglican marriages, 1619-1879; banns, 1754-91; and burials, 1619-1853. Later registers of the Welsh congregation are held by the incumbent. For Anglican baptisms and marriages of St Benet's parish from 1879, see St Nicholas Cole Abbey. A partial index to baptisms and marriages 1619-1879 is in the IGI.
