Shade STACY 59
Notes: Shadrach STACY married Sally Combs in 16 Dec 1832, Lawrence Co., IN (See also 1850 Perry Co., KY Census). The above Elizabeth was neè Combs per Perry Co., KY Gen Soc; however, this record also lists Salyan as born 10 Mar 1854, and Benjamin, born 10 Dec 1855, and Perry Co., KY Vital Statistics list those as children of Shadrach and Sally Combs Stacy. Moreover, Shade and Sally are both alive, well and together in the 1880 Perry Co., KY census, both age 69 (Enumerator error?)
Jeremiah Combs 39
Notes: Jeremiah Combs married Mary "Polly" FELTNER (Mary FELCKNER per 1858 Perry Co., KY record of birth of their daughter, Martha Combs). William O'Conner's "Danger" manuscript has confused this Jeremiah with the 1880 Perry KY Census HH#150 of Jeremiah and Mary "Polly" WILLIAMS(?) Combs, whom O'Conner has identified as son of Jeremiah and Sallie GRIGSBY Combs, and husband of Mary "Polly" WILLIAMS, daughter of Nicholas and Ann WILLIAMS Williams. See 1880 Perry Co., KY census.
Robert GODSEY 46 Va
Notes: Robert H. GODSEY married Cythia Combs (1854-1855 Perry Co., KY Records), identified by The Combes Genealogy as daughter of Jeremiah & Sytha SUMNER Combs (except this source lists Robert as Oscar).
Henry FIELDS 48
Notes: Henry FIELDS (son of Henry Combs & Louisa FIELDS (no marriage)) married Louisa Combs, their son Jesse, born 1 Dec 1857, per Perry Co., KY Gen Soc.
Jesse Combs 75 Clerk
Ira J. DAVIDSON 20 Deputy Clerk
Nancy Combs 70 black domestic servant
Notes: Jesse Combs married Polly BOLLING. Ira J. DAVIDSON was the son of their daughter, Alice "Dutch" Combs who married (1) Joseph DAVIDSON and (2) Granville P Combs (also his 2nd marriage). Was John, age 14, Margaret's son by John LACEY (as reported in The Combes Genealogy and John, age 2, in the 1860 Perry Co., KY census)? Jesse COMBS named a grandson John Combs [John J. Combs in records] in his 1873 will.
Nicholas Combs 78
Peggy TIRA 18 domestic servant
Granville Combs 48
Notes: Granville P. Combs was the son of Nicholas and Elizabeth Combs Combs and grandson of Nicholas & Nancy GRIGSBY Combs, Sr. "Alay" was Alice "Alsey" "Dutch" Combs, daughter of Jesse and Polly BOWLING Combs and grandaughter of Elijah and Sarah ROARK Combs. Alice married (1) Joseph DAVIDSON, and (2) Granville P. Combs (widower of Miranda BRASHEAR). She is the mother of Ira J. DAVIDSON living above in the household of his maternal grandfather. Also listed in the household of Granville and Alcie Combs (Davidson) Combs is Mary, age 18. Was she Polly Ann Combs, born 18 Jan 1852, daughter of Granville and Miranda, or was she Mary DAVIDSON, the daughter of Alcy and Joseph DAVIDSON. Combs Researcher Marilyn Hansen notes that she believes, but has not yet been able to prove, that Mary DAVIDSON is the "Aunt Mary Combs" who is listed several times in the book, History of Perry Co. Alcie Combs is Marilyn's great great great grandmother, another of her daughters being Sarah DAVIDSON, married Edward POLLY, parents of grandmother Alice "Alcie" Polly MORRIS of Hazard, Ky. Granville, Alcie, and many of their descendents are buried in the Combs Cemetery, Combs, Ky. This cemetery sits on what was the original home place of Granville, and is quite large. See Also 1914 Perry Co., KY obituary and Death Certificate of Alcy Combs Davidson Combs. Also note that Robert, age 8 in 1850 and age 18 in 1860 is apparently missing from this census and Granville has named (another?) son, Robert. Did the earlier Robert die, or marry/move?
Samuel Combs 47
Lurana Combs 5 domestic servant
Notes: The 14 Mar 1915 Perry Co., KY Death Certificate of Elhannen S. Combs, born ca 1854, Perry Co., KY, indicates both parents were born in Perry Co., KY, son of Samuel & Eliza Combs Combs.
Ira C. Combs 50
Abraham L. 8
Eliza Jane 6
Notes: Ira C. Combs, white, marroed Lucinda Marella STACY, mulatto (Perry Co., KY Vital Statistics - Birth Records, 08-25-1852). They appear in Perry Co., KY census records in 1850 (when no race designated for Lucinda or children), in 1860 (Lucinda and children listed as mulatto) and in 1880, when Andrew, age 36, is head of HH and listed as black; his sister, Vina, age 40, as "mulatto/white," as are Wesley, Annie and Larkin. John COUCH 55 Va
Ezekiel COUCH 23
Notes: Rachel was neè Combs, daughter of Henry & Nancy Ann BROWN Combs

He appears only two Households from Jesse's son, Josiah H., in both this census and in 1880 (where erroneously listed as William J.), and according to the Perry Co., KY Biography of their son, Marshall E., William W. married Elizabeth JOHNSON, daughter of George. In 1880, he is listed as William J.

Harrison Combs 22
Samuel ALEN 10
Notes: See Harrison Combs, age 2 in 1850 Perry and age 13 in 1860 Perry, son of Jeremiah C. and Sarah GRIGSBY Combs with brother, Wade. Peggy appears to be the same Margaret Combs that previously married Emry Allen in 1860. Wade's 1948 Clark Co., Ky Death Certificate lists his mother as Margaret COMBS. The 1910 Census stated she had been married twice. Harrison Combs was the informant on Margaret's death certificate in 1925
David Combs 28
Notes: Son of Nicholas & Peggy Combs of 1850 Perry KY Census HH 155? (Except note that "out of age order and see also 1860 & 1880 Perry); husband of Polly DAVIDSON, daughter of John and Sealie DAVIDSON per Perry Co., KY Death Certificates of daughter, Sealy (1913) and Polly Davidson Combs (1921). Granville Combs 23
Notes: Granville Combs married Ranie Combs per the 1921 Perry Co., KY Death Certificate of their son, Mat, born 20 Sep 1883, Perry. Raney (Ranie, Louranie, etc.) is of the right age to have been the daughter of Jeremiah & Sallie GRIGSBY Combs (Wooten). See 1850 and1860 Perry KY Census, and 1928 Breathitt Co., KY Death Certificate of Martha Combs. Granville was the son of Wesley and Nancy Combs Combs per his 1936 Clark Co., Ky Death Certificate.
Jeremiah Combs 30
Notes: This is probably Jeremiah and Polly WILLIAMS Combs who married 9 Sep 1859 per Perry Co. marriage records, and the same family as the 1860 Perry Co., KY Census HH#337-335, and the 1880 Perry Co., KY District 2 Census HH#150.

These four children are named by Jeremiah in his 1853 will as his four youngest children.

Deed of Conveyance to Wm L. Combs Heirs was acknowledged by Jackson Combs. 2 Feb. 1873 and admitted to record.

Notes: Jackson Combs was the son of Biram Combs Jr. (See 1858 deed wherein Jackson Combs sold 1/2 his interest in 200a on Carrs Fork that he inherited from his father). Listing Wm.'s daughter Isabel as a SUMNER is an error. She was married to William HAMMON (see 1868 deed). Daughters Clarinda and Dulcena have married since the 1868 deed. This indenture was dated 1874 but the recording date was 1873, obviously an error in one of those dates. Again the Clerk erred on the initial for William showing "S" but he did get closer since "L" and "S" are often very difficult to differentiate.
